Creativity requires TIME

Today we did a similar activity in our classroom.  Watch this space to see what we created!

Friendship

Today we talked a lot about being friends and how we can be include people. We decided we don't ever want anyone to feel excluded or left out and talked about ways we can show friendship.

We also got to know other children a little better today by playing  "speed friendship" and writing a short note to our teacher with the sentence starter "I wish my teacher knew....."

Our homework is to think about ourselves and how we are can be a good friend...... These can be completed on your learning blog:)

Learner Agency: Managing Self

WALT show an understanding of what is means to "managing self"

Today we talked about the importance of managing ourselves and how it can help with our learning.  It is a Key Competency that relates to our learning and supports the way we learn.

The Ministry of Education gives a brief description about what it means......

This competency is associated with self-motivation, a “can-do” attitude, and with students seeing themselves as capable learners. It is integral to self-assessment.
Students who manage themselves are enterprising, resourceful, reliable, and resilient. They establish personal goals, make plans, manage projects, and set high standards. They have strategies for meeting challenges. They know when to lead, when to follow, and when and how to act independently.
First we talked about what we though being able to manage ourselves meant.....
Motivation and Enthusiasm, Impulsivity, Behaviour, Belongings,
Goal Setting and Next Learning Steps, Challenges,
We then started putting together ideas about what that might look like at different levels.  We used the levels below to help us.
R - RECRUIT
I - INTERN
S - SKILLED
E - EXPERT

Question:  Think about how you manage yourself.  Comment below, identifying one area of 'Managing Self' that you might need to work on this term.
